Federal Advocacy – MP Outreach

The Faculty Association at the University of Calgary is joining the call for stronger federal support for post-secondary education. Universities and colleges are critical to the COVID-19 response and recovery, providing much needed research, knowledge, education and training. Yet, as in Alberta, provincial funding across the country is strained. We need the Federal Government to work with the provinces to fix the broken funding model for post-secondary education to ensure that postsecondary education is able to focus on what it does best – bring the research, knowledge, education and training to help drive the recovery and shape a better, more resilient Canada.

The Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) has developed an online letter template for members to send a letter to their Member of Parliament (MP) calling for immediate steps to further close the gaps in emergency support and long-term actions to improve the affordability and sustainability of post-secondary education. Click here to use CAUT’s on-line template to send your own letter.
